Rock of the Marne and Happy Birthday to our Division, which turns 109 on November 21st! I look forward to celebrating with many of you in Georgia at this year’s 3ID Ball. This year’s festivities will take place in Savannah, and I want to thank the Ball team for all their hard work in setting up this year’s event. I hope all will join us 18-21 November.
The Division Ball and Society Reunion fill a valuable role in keeping Dogface Soldiers tied to the Division. I know many of you have fond memories of your times with 3ID, and many follow and host different subordinate unit events throughout the years. I encourage you and your previous teams to use the Society’s Ball and Reunion to take advantage of the Division’s coming together and to have your sub-units’ events, as well. Go to the registration information and form in this issue of The Watch, and register now!
We also have Veteran’s Day coming up. On top of taking advantage of some of the freebies businesses put on for Veterans, I hope many of you will participate in your local events and both represent yourself and support your fellow Veterans. I, for one, plan to ride in the Phoenix Veteran’s Day Parade and represent the Division with my fellow OP 15 Veterans.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who has reached out and congratulated me as I begin my tenure as the Society’s President. It is an honor to serve all of you, and I look forward to continuing to be associated with our great Division.
Rock of the Marne!
Chris Mahaffey
Society President
